The initial Wilk settlers bought their first quarter of the land in 1928, produced enough grain to sell, and earned just enough money to buy a small herd of Black Angus cows. That initial foundation has been maintained to this day, even after many years. The Wilk family operated a mixed farm from the 1950s until 1990, cultivating both grain and rearing cattle. With the second generation Wilks in charge, they decided to solely concentrate on cattle ranching in 1990. Every year, the herd was increased, and rotational grazing was instituted.
In January 2018, work on the project began, and training in meat processing at Old's College begun. After agreeing on the moniker Cattle Boss Butchers, the rest, as they say, is history.
