From the colony pasture to the butcher's counter

Green Leaf Meats is run by the Green Leaf Hutterite Colony, established in 1999 east of Marcelin, Saskatchewan. The butcher shop opened in 2011 and sells what the colony raises. According to the shop's website, the Simmental and Angus cattle are raised on site and fed grain and grass, the pigs and chickens are grain fed, and the animals are raised without antibiotics, growth hormones or animal by-products in the feed.
